Organic, Ethical and Luxury Slow Fashion T-Shirts

Organic cotton uses 91% less water in the growing process (which is about as much water as you need for 3 and a half years!), it doesn't allow the use of GM seeds and doesn't use any toxic pesticides or chemicals because you’re not using synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, you don’t need to use as much water.”

Organic cotton doesn’t involve genetically modified crops, which generally require more water, while pesticide-free soil also makes the process more water-efficient.

In fact, 95% of the water used to grow organic cotton is green water (rainwater and water stored in the soil). Growing organic cotton, rather than conventional cotton, also reduces levels of water pollution by 98%, according to a 2011 report by the Water Footprint, as synthetic chemicals such as pesticides and fertilisers aren’t used.

Cotton grown organically reduces soil erosion and creates healthy soil. This type of soil has the power to withstand even draught conditions. Organic cultivation changes the soil into a carbon pit, which helps to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. It helps the farmers to work within their limits, supporting the planet in a sustainable way.

GMO, or genetically modified organism, is a plant, animal, micro-organism or other organism whose genetic makeup has been modified in a laboratory using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. Needles to say, Yamamoto Organic Slow Fashion do not use GMO's

A leaf is a perfect example of biodegradable product. It is made in the spring, used by the plant for photosynthesis in the summer, drops to the ground in autumn And assimilated into the soil to nourish the plant for the next season. This process will take about a year.

The energy demands of organic cotton are also much lower (remember, fertilisers come from fossil fuels). A life cycle analysis found that the energy demand of organic cotton was 62% lower than conventional cotton

Cotton is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable, making it an excellent choice as an environmentally-friendly fibre throughout its entire product life cycle. Most chemical fibres are petroleum based, which means they come from non-renewable resources.

Conventional cotton has “earned” the title of being the dirtiest crop on earth. It consumes 16% of the world's insecticides and requires $2 Billion in pesticides each year. Pesticides and insecticides used in cotton production contaminate the soil we use to grow crops, the air we breathe and the water we drink.

The deaths of animals exposed to these contaminants is counted in the millions every year. Global consumption of non-organic cotton releases huge amounts of greenhouse gas into our atmosphere, about 220 million tonnes a year. 1 tonne of conventional cotton fibre produces 1.8 tonnes of CO2e.

The damage caused to us and the environment by growing non-organic cotton is enormous and is a real threat to us and our finite planet.

GOTS logo

We are GOTS certified!

Sustainable fashion, ethical clothing, fair production have many meanings. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) has a clearly defined set of criteria and is transparent.

GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. GOTS certified final products may include fibre products, yarns, fabrics, clothes, home textiles, mattresses, personal hygiene products, as well as food contact textiles and more.

Having one common standard means textile processors and manufacturers can export their fabrics and garments with one organic certification that is accepted in all major markets. This transparency also gives consumers the power to choose truly organic products sourced from green supply chains.

Simple Cool Japan

Our creation is also based on “Simple Cool Japan,” – a Japanese design culture describing the traditional approach to producing quality products with great attention to detail.

T-Shirts we produce here at Yamamoto Organic Slow Fashion are designed and meticulously crafted in Australia and Japan. We only use the finest organically and ethically sourced natural materials. We know exactly where our sources come from.

Our products will mature to fit your body more comfortably with wear and washes and will become your best piece. Despite its thick appearances, the T-shirt's fabric is moderately glossy, moist and smooth, so it looks luxurious despite its rugged and durable texture.

Nearly 100% of our T-Shirts are manufactured locally in Japan using natural sustainable materials. Our commitment to superior materials and the quality of craftsmanship for our clothing production sets us apart from the rest.

GOTS certified Luxury T-shirt - Quality garments that are produced sustainably and ethically and make a contribution to the environment.

Why do our T-shirts cost more?

100% organic cotton simply cost more even though some brands call it organic it will probably only contain a small percentage of actual organic cotton with the balance being 'normal' cotton.

Originally, organic cotton is more expensive than regular cotton, so you won't often see thick T-shirts made from organic cotton.  The thicker it is the more raw material cotton will be used and as a consequence the price is higher.

Did you know?
Only 0.7% of worldwide grown cottons are organic

The Difference is in the details

Yamamoto Organic Slow Fashion T-Shirts comparison

The T-shirt on the left is a normal weight T-shirt and our T-shirt is on the right.

Our luxurious T-shirts use 4 times the amount of Ultimate Pima Organic Cotton than common T-shirts and result in a much thicker and comfortable product.

Much better quality than conventional cotton but not the negative impact on the environment.

Haiku Poems

A haiku is considered to be more than a type of poem; it is a way of looking at the physical world and seeing something deeper, like the very nature of existence. It should leave the reader with a strong feeling or impression.
